Dr. Shami is Board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from St. Peter’s University in Jersey City, NJ. Dr. Shami continued his education and earned his medical degree from the Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rome, Italy. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and his fellowship in Gastroenterology at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center.

Dr. Shami has been in practice 30+ years and is one of the founding physicians of Gastroenterology Diagnostics in 1994. He has hospital affiliations with St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, St. Joseph’s Wayne Medical Center, Chilton Medical Center, and Hackensack UMC Mountainside Hospital.

Dr. Shami is enthusiastic as ever in looking for better ways to take care of his patients. He believes every patient is unique and gets the same attention regardless of how long their relationship has been. There is practice coverage 365 days a year.
